What are you doing
in France?
or (Que
faites-vous en France?)
While in France, we
will be involved in serving in two
ways. First, we will be working with two local churches in
the
Lyons area helping with their outreach and ministry programs and Hilary
will also be serving and blessing people with her gift of
hospitality. Second Daniel will be taking the role of the
primary
software engineer for the French Evangelical Electronic Library project.
Last
December, we were
contacted by Éditions Clé, a Bible Publishing
Group in
Lyon, France, who have
been praying for a software engineer to coordinate the FEEL project.
The French
Evangelical Electronic Library (FEEL) is an initiative to create and
distribute
a comprehensive French Bible study library in electronic format for use
by
individuals, seminaries and Bible institutes and
schools.
After much praying, we have been led to
partner with CrossWorld Ministries (formerly UFM) to move to Lyon,
France for
the next 3 years, where Daniel will take the role of technical
coordinator for this project.
In addition to the
FEEL
Project, we will be working with two church plants in the Lyon area,
one in St.
Priest, that CrossWorld established in 1979 and with its new church
plant in
Corbas. During the first year, Hilary
and I will be house sitting for the Dailys, a missionary family who are
going
on furlough to the United States for a year. This
means, first all that we won't be pressed to
find housing as soon
as we arrive. Isn't God
faithful in
small things? It also means
that we
will be able to continue many of the ministries the Daily's worked on,
while
they sojourn in the United States.
While
talking to the
missionaries in France, we've been told that there will be "no lack of
opportunity to minister," and many of the ministries are hospitality
based. For those that know Hilary, you
know this is her strong suit and she loves to host guests and build
relationships. Some of the established
ministries include helping with the Kids Club that meets on Tuesdays
called
"Éclats de Joie." There is a rotation of people responsible
to
keep
it from getting too heavy a load. There is also a weekly Jr High youth
group,
called "Groupe Carrefour". As well as a seasonal gingerbread house
ministry in the Winter and an English club that meets on Saturdays.
