Meilleurs Voeux and Happy New Year!

We are happy to announce the birth of Aria Ruby Holmlund. Aria was born on Dec 12th at 10:47am. She was 7lbs 6.5oz and 19.6 inches long. You can see more pictures of her at the bottom of this newsletter or at her photo gallery. As this beautiful gift from God has come into our lives, we are reminded of all that the Lord does for his children. We pray that this year, the Lord blesses you and that the begin of this new year reminds you of His blessings.

It's been a while since our last update. So first of all, we wanted to say thank you very much to everyone who has been faithfully praying and supporting us. Hilary and I have been buried in books nearly his entire year. The French Evangelical Electronic Library (FEEL) is growing in size of books completed, but we're going to have to continue vigilantly in order to complete the project by summer 2009, which is when Serving in Missions (SIM) will be doing a distribution in Africa.

We celebrated Thanksgiving with about 50 other people! Our team rented out a small restaurant where we served two enormous turkeys with all the trimmings! Many of those who came are contacts from the adult English Club we help out with, and from other English activities our coworkers are involved in. It was exciting to see so many new faces and to get to share the story of Thanksgiving with them. As you may be able to tell, English has been a great way to get to know people in France, and we're already planning the annual English Carol Sing for December and a mini Talk It Up camp for the February school vacation.

Updates at Editions Clé

books

We hope that you can prayer for us during this next year. Here are some updates about what's been going on at Editions Clé.

Praise the Lord for a new missionary couple which will be joining the FEEL project. Of course once we are finished putting together all of these commentaries and pastoral resources, we need someone to help train people on how to use them. Harry Walker is the answer to that prayer. He and his family have joined Crossworld and started to work on training materials for the CD to be distributed. He will also soon be making contact with the different seminaries and Bible schools across French-speaking Africa.

Here are some other books we've been working on getting specifically for Africa and written by African authors.

We praise the Lord that GBIM has given a grant to the FEEL project to enable the completion of the translation of the Moody Bible Handbook. And we praise the Lord for good relations with Moody press as we translate and digitize some of their other books.

Hilary has been rereading the translation of the Expositor’s Bible Commentary for the Old Testament. We currently have seven of the books translated and Hilary is rereading the fifth. Pray that Hilary would have stamina and attention for quality in her work. And continue to pray for qualified translators in this project as well as success in our search for further grants to help fund this enormous project.

In partnership with the Geneva Bible Institute (IBG), the final touches are being put on fellow missionary Henry Bryant's commentary on I Corinthians. This is a re-edition and will be available in both paperback and electronic formats.

Prayer and Praise

praying hands

Some praises and prayer requests:

Praise for another year and the work we've been able to do here.

Praise for a healthy pregnancy.

Please continue to pray for translators and other volunteers to help speed along the work on the FEEL project. There are many more books that still need to be translated, but not enough people to finish the work in this next year.

Pray also for Editions Clé's finances. Sales have not been as high as hoped this year, and some projects are having to be put on hold until funding for them comes in.

Pray for the St Priest Church and the daughter Church project, that God would guide them in the decisions they need to make this coming year.

Pray for opportunities to pursue relationships that have been formed through English activities, and for an interest in the Gospel.

Pray for the safe arrival of our daughter and for Daniel's back to continue to heal.
